Blessed with the finest protected sailing waters, LEHYC has hosted many regional, national and international regattas including the US Sailing Mallory, Adams and O’Day championships.  Our highly skilled and respected race committee has twice been awarded US Sailing’s prestigious St. Petersburg Trophy for excellence in race management. LEHYC hosts several regattas every summer; the annual Down Bay Invitational in August is the high point of the regatta season.  The Barclay Cup team race held annually since 1928, currently in Optis, is the oldest active sailing trophy in the state of New Jersey.

LEHYC has very active sailing programs for youth and adults. Junior sailors learn and compete in the optimist Dinghy as well Lasers and Club 420s.  LEHYC also conducts weekly senior racing in E-Scows, Marshall Sanderling Catboats, Lightnings, M-Scows and Lasers.

An extensive tennis program is conducted on our six hard surface courts. Tennis events include a weekly Ladies Round Robin, as well as several parent-child and mixed doubles tournaments.  The tennis program culminates in club championships for men’s and ladies singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.  Tennis is also an integral part of our junior program with instruction and competition scheduled several days a week.

Little Egg also has an active group of fishermen who compete locally and nationally, and share their bounty each year at a Fish Fry open to all members. Our bocce court is active every Sunday and golfers enjoy an annual golf outing and dinner.  Also on the summer calendar are an art group, bridge, book club, exercise classes, a pre-sailing program for 5-7 year olds, a Junior Yacht Club for teens, happy hours, dinner-dances, cookouts, and sunset sails.

LEHYC takes pride in being an all volunteer organization; our activities are all managed by member-volunteers who enjoy the camaraderie of working together.  The club also gives back to the community through an annual Benefit Happy Hour supporting the Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Department, Beach Haven First Aid Squad, Southern Ocean Medical Center Foundation, and by supporting the local efforts to save Mordecai Island.
